Elegant and refined, made with 100% Pinot Bianco, grown on mineral rich soils from the cru Girlan, at high altitudes of 450 to 500 m above sea level. Fermentation and ageing in steel vats. Medium bodied with delicate aromas of apple blossom, kaffir lime and ripe orchard fruit. Fresh, crisp and dry on the palate, juicy citrus fruit flavours and wonderful minerality on the finish. Approachable and food friendly, it’s delicious as an aperitif and pairs beautifully with light Spring and Summer dishes on the patio. Step into Spring with a superb Girlan Pinot Bianco.
Alto Adige is Italy’s most northern wine region and producer of some of the country’s most revered white wines. Nestled in the Dolomite mountains, between Switzerland and Austria, Alto Adige boasts a diverse range of indigenous and international grapes, Pinot Bianco is one of the most celebrated wines being produced in this corner of Italy.
Pinot Bianco has been cultivated in this region since the mid-19th century. A lighter-skinned mutation of Pinot Noir, the grape was historically confused with its cousin Chardonnay. Pinot Bianco produces elegant wines with great finesse, delivering delicate scents of apple, pear, lemon, and white flowers, along with lively acidity and good structure (also used to add structure and weight to Franciacorta). Pinot Bianco finds its peak expression in Alto Adige’s terroir combining alpine climate, high altitudes of 300-500 m, mineral soils and an abundance of Mediterranean sunshine.
Cantina Girlan is one of the region’s finest grower cooperatives producing exemplary Alto Adige wines. Located in the municipality of Girlan (Cornaiano) near Bolzano, the winery was founded in 1923 as a cooperative of 23 grape growers on an estate dating back to the 16th century. Cantina Girlan today has over 200 members comprising 220 hectares of the best grape growing zones in the area. Growers focus on those varieties that best suit their soils, aspects and altitudes. With the arrival of master winemaker Gerhard Kofler in 2006, Girlan has established themselves as one of the leading producers in the region.
The unique characteristics of the terroir produce expressive wines with a strong personality, prized for their freshness, structure, and authenticity. Girlan has long been a benchmark for single vineyard and single varietal wines in the region. Girlan’s Pinot Bianco is a testament of the quality production and multifaceted character of Alto Adige.
