New ideas, storied land
Castello di Farnetella boasts a prime location in a very distinctive climate niche. On the property is a breathtaking castle, with vineyards and olive groves sprawling across the high elevations that surround it. Reaching elevations from 220 to 560 meters, with the most prized plots perched on a picturesque plateau at 520-540 meters above sea level.
Here, the soil's rich tapestry of stratified sandstones, clay, and mineral rich sea bed sediments infuses the terroir with exquisite fertility. With such amazing soils, the vineyards were re-structured to be more dense, yielding wines of unparalleled character and distinction. In present day, they've even extended to planting international varieties, while maintaining their classic Italian practices in the cellar.

Enduring the tests of time
The historical Castello is part of the estate property, with the hamlet of Farnetella extending to its walls. The castle has been destroyed many times through political clashes, and just as often been rebuilt over the centuries. The most recent reconstruction began between 1889 and 1903, but remains incomplete due to financial constraints that rendered the task too daunting to finish. Nevertheless, it still stands in it's glory, now under the purchase of the Poggiali family, owner of the Fèlsina farm.
