94 Points, Vinous: "The 2018 Baron'Ugo is super impressive. Rich and yet nuanced, Baron'Ugo captures a striking expression of the estate. Dollops of Canaiolo and Colorino add nuance to the Sangiovese. Those complementary varieties work so well in making Baron'Ugo the most distinctive and evocative wine in this range from Monteraponi."
From 2006-2011 this wine was a Chianti Classico Riserva. When the 2012 vintage presented a very light colour and only 12.5% alcohol, the consortium did not grant it the status. Leaving the consortium, Michele has since labeled the Baron'Ugo as an IGT Toscano Rosso and has not applied for a higher designation.
