Ageing/Vinification: 24 hours maceration, controlled low temperature fermentation in barrel with selected yeasts. 10 months ageing in 225L neutral barrel on the lees.
Description: A single vineyard Carricante, with small amounts of Catarratto, Minella, and Muscatello in the blend. There is an enticing hint of vanilla pod on the nose, a very subtle reminder that this wine spent 9 months in French oak. There's nothing heavy handed about it though – the fruit is predominantly apricot and peach, with a splash of woodspice and terrific freshness. 4,000 bottles made.
90 Points, Vinous: "Vivid golden color in the glass while wafting up notes of musky apricots and nectarines, honeysuckle and white smoke. There are depths of oily texture here, as if the entire palate is coated in a sometimes-sweet and sometimes-savory mix of melon, pit fruits and almond, all held together by salty acids."
