Tasting Notes: The Malandrino marks a turning point for Cataldi Madonna. Their goal was to produce a great wine without any wood contact to express the purity of the fruit. They have succeeded in this fresh and balanced Montepulciano which sees only clay and stainless steel. Deep purple, the nose shows stewed fruit, with notes of balsamic and baking spices. vibrant with notes of ripe black cherry. The wine is lush and round with textured tannins; long finish.

Ageing/Vinification: Soft pressing, post fermentation maceration of 25 days with periodic pumpovers and delestage. After racking the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in stainless steel. The wine is aged for at least 12 months in a combination of cement vats and stainless steel, followed by at least 3 months in bottle.

Vineyard: Vineyards are located in a small amphitheater-shaped plateau in whose epicenter Ofena is located, in the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park. The vineyards are about 304m above sea level, under the Calderone, the only glacier in the Apennines.
