Marco Porello, Langhe Nebbiolo DOC 2022

A delightful Piemonte Nebbiolo from a quality small-scale producer in Roero. Elegant and structured. Aromatic notes of tart red berries and roses jump out of the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with a good concentration of mineral notes supported by fresh acidity. The finish is moderately long, tapering off with moderate, grippy tannins. Like a classic Piedmont Nebbiolo from the more celebrated regions but on a lighter frame. A great introduction to the pleasures of Nebbiolo without breaking the bank.

Mamete Prevostini, Rosso di Valtelina 'Santarita' DOC 2022

Made with 100% Nebbiolo (locally called Chiavennasca) grown on the terraced slopes in Berbenno, Castione Andevenno and Tirano in Lombardy. Its name is linked to the day of Santa Rita, May 22nd when the first vintage of this red was bottled. After maceration with the skins, the malolactic fermentation occurs partly in steel and partly in wood, and the refinement continues for 10 months. The bouquet is fresh and fragrant with notes of freshly picked red fruits, rose and violet. On the palate, it is refreshing with a dry and pleasant finish.

We are taking Nebbiolo to the next level with the Al Forte 2018 from Piemonte. A blend of 70% Nebbiolo, 70% backed by 20% Croatina (also known as Bonarda), and 10% Vespolina, which adds a spicy note and softer tannins to the mix. The estate’s vines are rooted in marine and volcanic soils, which lead to high-acid and mineral-influenced fruit. This perfumed and structured red blend shows flavours of juicy red cherries, tart plums, and smoke, marked by well-integrated tannins and a lingering long finish.
