Biondi is one of the longest-established producers in the Mount Etna appellation, with a grand family tradition for high quality viticulture that goes back to the end of the 19th century, when ancestors of today’s owner Ciro Biondi founded the famous Biondi & Lanzafame winery. Decades later Ciro Biondi and his wife Stephanie decided to resurrect Biondi, and began to operate in 1999 after restructuring the 3 vineyards the family has held since the late 1600s. These vineyards are among Etna’s finest, stretching across the eastern and western slope of the volcano, in prized sites such as Ronzini, Ilice, and Gurna. Their objective was simply to produce high quality wines, but they also singlehandedly started the Etna wine movement.
