The Marzeno hills
Often hailed as one of Romagna's finest estates, Fattoria Zerbina is perched on the first slopes of the Tosco-Romagnolo Apennines, where the gentle hills connect Faenza to Tuscany. The Marzeno Valley provides an ideal environment for viticulture with its diverse soils and favourable climate.
The lower areas, rich and damp, are perfect for cultivating Trebbiano and Albana grapes, especially suitable for developing noble rot, a beneficial mold that enhances the sweetness and complexity of the wine. Higher up, the soils vary from clay and limestone to alluvial, ideal for Sangiovese. The winery's commitment to non-invasive, sustainable viticulture and its innovative selections set it apart. Producing high-quality, elegant wines that truly reflect the terroir.

From Tradition to Triumph
The story of Fattoria Zerbina began in 1966 when Vincenzo Geminiani acquired the estate and planted its first vineyards. His efforts were quickly rewarded with numerous awards. The real transformation came in 1987 when Vincenzo’s granddaughter, Cristina Geminiani, took over. With a passion for improving Sangiovese and Albana, she implemented avant-garde techniques and experimented with noble rot in some of their production. Her dedication led to the success of Scaccomatto, a wine now celebrated for its complexity and richness. Cristina's leadership has driven continuous innovation while preserving tradition. Today, Fattoria Zerbina blends the best of modern and traditional methods, producing wines like Pietramora that honor the estate's legacy and showcase its exceptional quality.
