Old school winemaking
The Antano family vineyards are found in a region with a thousand-year tradition of wine and oil production. Located on hilly terrain, these vineyards benefit from a mild, breezy climate and optimal sun exposure, which ensures perfect grape and tannin maturation. The clay soils, rich in minerals, are ideal for cultivating robust and aromatic grape varieties like Sagrantino and Sangiovese.
The Antano family practices sustainable viticulture, emphasizing traditional methods and avoiding chemical substances, which enhances the authentic character of their wines. Their low-intervention winemaking style includes techniques such as aggressive green harvesting and maintaining low vine density, ensuring high-quality, elegant wines.

Preserving the authenticity of Umbrian wine
The winery's history is rooted in the vision of Cavaliere Milziade Antano, who established the company in the late 1960s. His pioneering vineyard management techniques, once considered radical, now define modern viticulture. Today, Francesco Milziade continues his father's legacy, using no barrique wood or high-tech equipment, opting for a low-intervention, coined as a “garage winemaker” approach. This dedication to tradition and quality has solidified Fattoria Antano’s national and international reputation, making their Montefalco and Sagrantino wines complex yet dangerously drinkable. Francesco's commitment ensures that the family’s production philosophy remains strong, celebrating native vines with every vintage.
