The Yin and yang
Primosic flourishes in the enchanting Collio Goriziano, where rolling hills merge with rich history. This region, celebrated for its distinctive 'ponca' soil, offers an exceptional environment for winemaking. The vineyards, spread across both sides of Oslavia Hill, benefit from varying climates that influence their wines. One side enjoys warm, sun-drenched slopes, while the other is cooled by the gentle breezes of the bora wind, creating a perfect balance in the grapes.
Their meticulous practices rooted in organic and biodynamic principles further celebrate the land’s natural beauty. Each vineyard within Primosic’s collection benefits from these diverse elements, enhancing the minerality, structure and elegance of their wines.

Children of the same land
The story of the Primosic winery is a rich blend of family heritage and unwavering dedication. It began with Karlo Primosic, born in 1868, who started transporting wine from the Austro-Hungarian Empire to Vienna. Despite the upheavals of the world wars, the Primosic legacy was revitalized in the 1950s by his grandson, Silvan, who bottled the first harvest in 1964. The construction of a new winery in 1979 marked a significant commitment to merging traditional winemaking methods with modern advancements. By the early 1990s, Silvan's sons, Marko and Boris, embraced this tradition, combining age-old techniques with contemporary technology. This approach laid the foundation for their current philosophy, producing wines that honour the land's heritage and unique character. The Primosic family’s winemaking is a generational endeavour, with their vineyards symbolically named Yin and Yang to represent the harmonious balance of contrasting elements that define their exceptional wines.
