Cultivating Justice and Quality
Centopassi, a pioneering winery in Sicily, represents a union of quality winemaking and social activism. Part of the social cooperative Libera Terra, Centopassi cultivates vineyards on lands confiscated from the mafia, transforming them into symbols of resilience and hope. The name "Centopassi" (One Hundred Steps) is a tribute to Sicilian activist Peppino Impastato, known for his fight against organized crime.
The vineyards of Centopassi are spread across various regions of western Sicily, including Alto Belice Corleonese and the hills around Piana degli Albanesi. These areas, with their unique altitudes and soil compositions—ranging from sandy and calcareous to clay-rich—allow for a diverse range of high-quality wines.
Commitment to Sustainable Viticulture
Centopassi's dedication to organic and sustainable viticulture is evident in their meticulous vineyard practices, ensuring that each wine not only reflects the distinct characteristics of its terroir but also supports ethical and environmentally conscious agriculture. Their wines, crafted with a blend of tradition and innovation, offer vibrant whites and structured reds, each bottle carrying the spirit and story of Sicily’s land and its people.
