Ermes Pavese

Valle d'Aosta

Secluded mountain terroir

High in the Alpine commune of La Ruine near Morgex, Ermes Pavese nurtures the rare native grape, Prié Blanc. Situated just below the summit of Mont Blanc at 1,200 meters above sea level, Pavese oversees Europe's highest vineyards. The surrounding areas were unfortunately impacted greatly by phylloxera, but because of it's secluded location, they still tend to original root stock.

The cool, dry mountain climate and well-drained rocky soils impart a distinctive minerality and vibrant acidity to the grapes. This pristine, isolated environment and unique terroir inspired Pavese to craft three distinct versions of Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle, each as exceptional as the next.

Prié Blanc perfection

Ermes Pavese embodies precision and dedication in Valle d'Aosta winemaking, focusing exclusively on Prié Blanc at extreme altitudes. Established in 1999, the winery began with family wisdom and the guidance of Marziano Vevey, renowned for Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle. It then expanded to include three wines: Blanc de Morgex et de La Salle - Nathan, aged in barriques and Ninive, created from overripe grapes. In 2010, they expanded their cellar and introduced Le 7 Scalinate – Carlo Pavese, honouring their Uncle Carlo. The first Classic Method "Pavese" debuted in 2012, setting a new standard. By 2017, the estate thrives with ongoing expansion and innovative projects, led by Nathan and Ninive, ensuring a legacy of exceptional wines and environmental stewardship.
