A farmhouse in the hills
Perched on the slopes of Coriano, San Patrignano's vineyards paint a portrait of viticultural artistry. Just a few kilometers from the Rimini coast, the winery benefits from an exceptional microclimate where the gentle sea breeze cools the warm summer days and imparts a distinct mineral quality to the grapes. The rolling terrain, rich in clay and limestone, fosters a diverse range of vineyard plots.
The diverse soils and ages of San Patrignano’s vineyards create a mosaic of flavours, with grapes reaching perfect ripeness and complexity in this exceptional environment. Within this setting, Sangiovese reveals a unique profile, characterized by its smooth, mellow texture and sweeter tannins. This distinctiveness is truly what defines the remarkable winemaking quality for which San Patrignano is celebrated.

Purpose driven passion
San Patrignano’s story begins in the 1970s with Vincenzo Muccioli, who started by opening his home to those seeking community after falling on hard times. From these modest beginnings with just Sangiovese and Trebbiano grapes, a single press and five wooden barrels, the winery has grown into a symbol of transformation and resilience.
San Patrignano is more than a winery, it embodies a profound commitment to both rehabilitation and winemaking excellence. The 1,300 residents, engaged in one of the world's finest drug rehabilitation programs, contribute to the winery’s success. This community-driven approach reflects a restorative justice and solution focused response to serious social issues, all while producing some of Italy's finest wines.
Over the decades, San Patrignano has expanded its vineyards, incorporating a diverse array of local and international grape varieties. This evolution, marked by a dedication to quality and innovation, has earned the winery accolades from prestigious critics like Gambero Rosso. Today, San Patrignano stands as a powerful testament to the resilience of its residents and the power of being given a second chance.
