San Patrignano’s story begins in the 1970s with Vincenzo Muccioli, who started by opening his home to those seeking community after falling on hard times. From these modest beginnings with just Sangiovese and Trebbiano grapes, a single press and five wooden barrels, the winery has grown into a symbol of transformation and resilience.
San Patrignano is more than a winery, it embodies a profound commitment to both rehabilitation and winemaking excellence. The 1,300 residents, engaged in one of the world's finest drug rehabilitation programs, contribute to the winery’s success. This community-driven approach reflects a restorative justice and solution focused response to serious social issues, all while producing some of Italy's finest wines.
