For the love of Aglianco
Amongst the picturesque slopes of Monte Vulture, Cantina Grifalco stands as a dominant force in both the nurturing and the production of the Aglianco grape. The volcanic soils of Monte Vulture provide the perfect environment for the storied vines, infusing the wines with a distinct elegance and depth.
The vineyards are spread across four diverse terrains in Maschito, Venosa, Rapolla and Ginestra, each plot offering unique characteristics that contribute to varying characteristics. They diligently keep each production separate, vinified on its own to protect and enhance the different expressions that this grape is capable of. However, the grapes are just the beginning at Grifalco; as they focus continuous energy on maintaining respect for the surrounding nature, always researching additional ways they can do their part for the environment.

A shift in family dynamics
The story of Cantina Grifalco is one of family, passion and a deep respect for tradition. Founded in 2004 by Cecilia and Fabrizio Piccin, who brought their two decades of Tuscan winemaking experience to Basilicata, the winery is now managed by their sons, Lorenzo and Andrea. Lorenzo oversees the agronomic and oenological aspects, while Andrea handles the commercial side of the business.
Their approach is rooted in values of quality and respect for nature, with all their grapes and wines bearing organic certification. Cantina Grifalco considers themselves more than just a winery; referring to themselves as "a collective of skilled individuals united by a shared vision."
We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
