Contadi Castaldi Rose Franciacorta Brut DOCG

Sale price $269.70 ($44.95/BTL)

Tasting Notes: Coral pink, very bright, with a fine and persistent perlage. An original Franciacorta in a modern style, making skilful use of the Pinot nero grapes. The nose features distinct notes of wild berries, fresh rose petals, hints of apple and tropical fruit. Structured palate, crisp and sapid. The finish is long and well balanced.

Ageing/Vinification: Soft pressing, cold settling, inoculation with selected yeast. Fermentation of 20 days in stainless steel. Partial malolactic fermentation. First ageing 7 months, partly in steel and partly in barrique. Aged on the lees for 20 to 26 months. 3 to 4 months of post-disgorgement refinement.

Vineyards: Vineyards are located near Mount Alto which acts a barrier against the north winds as well as the fog that creeps up from the Po Valley. This long, isolated mountain divides Lake Iseo into two parallel gulfs - that of Iseo, in the province of Brescia, and that of Sarnico, in the province of Bergamo. The mountain is made of marine sedimentary rocks, i.e. lime, marl and sandstone. All perfect soils for grapevines, though used by brickworks and cement quarries in the past.
