The grapes are hand harvested, fermented with native yeasts, and aged in large oak barrels to preserve purity and site character. The resulting wine is elegant and structured, with bright acidity, firm tannins, and notes of red cherry, herbs, spice, and volcanic minerality.

Passopisciaro “Scinniri” refers to a wine from the Sciaranuova contrada on the northern slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily. The word “Scinniri” means “to descend” in Sicilian dialect, evoking the movement of grapes down the volcano and into the cellar. The wine is made primarily from Nerello Mascalese grown at high altitude on relatively young volcanic soils. It was developed under the direction of Andrea Franchetti, who focused on expressing the individuality of Etna’s contrade.
