4 BOTTLE RED CASE WINE DESCRIPTION - OCTOBER 2026
Amantis – Montecucco Sangiovese DOCG

Grape: 100% Sangiovese, Tuscany's signature red grape, expressed here through the distinctive high-altitude terroir around Mount Amiata.
Region: Montecucco DOCG, Tuscany. The vineyards lie between Mount Amiata and the Val d'Orcia, in the area of Montenero d'Orcia. The combination of clay-rich soils, altitude, and the influence of Mount Amiata contributes to freshness, minerality, and structure.
Tasting Notes: Deep ruby red. Aromas of ripe red cherries and wild berries mingle with violet, subtle herbs, spice, and earthy mineral notes. The palate is structured yet elegant, with bright acidity, refined tannins, a silky texture, and a long, savoury finish.
Vinification & Ageing: The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully selected. Fermentation takes place in large oak casks, with a long maceration on the skins. The wine is then aged in large oak casks before further bottle ageing, allowing the Sangiovese to develop complexity while maintaining its freshness and varietal character.
Ageing Potential: 8–10+ years.
Food Pairing: Florentine steak, grilled meats, roast lamb, wild boar, Tuscan pasta with meat sauce, aged pecorino, and hearty vegetable dishes.
Fun Fact: Amantis is closely associated with the Vagaggini family, whose winemaking work has a particular focus on Sangiovese. The estate is also known for an experimental vineyard planted at an exceptionally high density of up to 20,000 vines per hectare, one of the most unusual aspects of its viticultural approach.

Borgo Paglianetto – Terravignata Marche Rosso IGT

Grape: 50% Sangiovese, 35% Merlot, and 15% Lacrima. The combination brings together Sangiovese's freshness and structure with the soft fruit of Merlot and the distinctive floral character of Lacrima.
Region: Marche Rosso IGT, Matelica, Marche. The vineyards sit at approximately 350–400 metres above sea level on clay-calcareous soils, in the inland Matelica area.
Tasting Notes: Ruby red with violet reflections. Fragrant aromas of violet, cherry, small red berries, and subtle herbal and spicy notes. Fresh and balanced on the palate, with soft tannins, lively fruit, and a gently spicy finish.
Vinification & Ageing: The grapes undergo fermentation with approximately 8–10 days of maceration at controlled temperatures in stainless steel tanks. The wine then spends 6 months in stainless steel followed by 2 months in bottle.
Ageing Potential: 3–5 years.
Food Pairing: Salumi, pizza, pasta with tomato-based sauces, grilled sausages, roasted vegetables, burgers, and medium-aged cheeses.
Fun Fact: The name Terravignata comes from the ancient expression used for land dedicated to growing vines around Matelica. The wine is also an unusual blend for the area, combining Sangiovese and Merlot with a small percentage of Lacrima, an aromatic native Marche variety.

Cataldi Madonna – Malandrino Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo DOC

Grape: 100% Montepulciano, the signature red grape of Abruzzo. Here it is used to create Cerasuolo, the region's distinctive deep-coloured rosé style.
Region: Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo DOC, Ofena, Abruzzo. The vineyards are located in the foothills of the Gran Sasso, where altitude and significant day-night temperature variations help preserve freshness and aromatic intensity.
Tasting Notes: Bright cherry-pink. Aromas of fresh strawberry and red berries combine with delicate almond and floral notes. Fresh, lively, and pleasantly savoury on the palate, with vibrant acidity and a persistent, lightly floral finish.
Vinification & Ageing: A portion of the grapes undergoes cryomaceration before fermentation in stainless steel at approximately 15–18°C. The wine then remains in contact with the fine lees, preserving freshness and enhancing texture.
Ageing Potential: 2–3 years.
Food Pairing: Tomato-based pasta, pizza, fried vegetables, fried fish, charcuterie, grilled seafood, white meats, and fresh cheeses.
Fun Fact: The name Cerasuolo comes from cerasa, the Abruzzese word for cherry, referring to the wine's characteristic brilliant cherry colour. Cataldi Madonna's Malandrino is made from Montepulciano and is designed as a versatile rosé that can accompany an entire meal rather than being limited to aperitivo.
