Tasting Notes: Wild cherry, violets and anise. Mineral and slightly smokey with dusty tannins. A deep and complex wine with a rich taste of red fruit. Great depth!

Ageing/Vinification: fermentation in steel vats, followed by malolactic and 18 months aging in large neutral oak barrels; this minimal intervention approach to winemaking allows the differences in terroir to shine.

Vineyard: Contrada Guardiola is an ancient district located between 800m and 1000m above sea level, on the edge of a recent lava flow of 1947 that stopped just before the vineyards. Only the grapes selected from the oldest vineyards are used for this cru that we started to produce in 2011. Vines are 70 to 100 years old, located on the north side of Mount Etna.
