Ettore Germano Barolo DOCG Serralunga, 2019
The Barolo Serralunga is made from a blend of three Grand Cru vineyards: Prapo, Cerretta and Lazzarito. The vines grown on these steep slopes with mineral soil are forced to work hard, making the grapes small and concentrated. This young Barolo is approachable and delicious right out of the gate, with an abundance of strawberries, cherries and pomegranates entwined with notes of violets, rose and liquorice. These aromas repeat on the palate, framed by elegant, ultra-fine tannins. Spectacular with roasted duck or leg of lamb.
“The Ettore Germano 2019 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba has a robust fruit profile with dried cherry and blackcurrant. Those aromas segue to dried rosemary, licorice, iron ore and red brick. That metallic earthy quality is a trait often found in the full-bodied Nebbiolos from Serralunga d'Alba.”

Ettore Germano Barolo DOCG Vignarionda, 2018
Coming from one of the most revered crus in the area known for producing complex and rounded wines, this gorgeous Boarolo starts out with heady aromas of crushed berry, camphor, violet, and dark spice. With finesse and structure, the delicious palate serves up raspberry compote, ripe Morello cherry, and star anise framed in firm, refined tannins. Fresh acidity keeps it impeccably balanced.
“Aromas recalling red berry, toasted hazelnut, menthol and forest floor take shape in the glass. Full-bodied, polished and structured, the palate features cherry soaked in spirits, pomegranate, crushed mint and star anise alongside a backbone of fine-grained tannins.”

Ettore Germano Barolo DOCG Lazzarito, 2017
This denomination is found in the land register as early as 1610, and its name derives from the presence of the Lazaretto in remote times. This cru is tiny, with 30 hectares under vine at about 350m above sea level. Ettore Germano has one hectare with a southwest exposure that enjoys the afternoon sun. The grapes come from old vines planted in 1931 and spend the longest time macerating (50-60 days) out of the 3 wines. Along with the ideal sun exposure, you will get aromas of roasted coffee beans, scorched earth, leather, spice, ripe plum, and blue flowers. This structured, full-bodies stunner has beautiful, fine-grained, smooth tannins that complement the long and juicy finish. If you plan to drink this in the near future, decant for a minimum of one hour. With proper cellaring conditions, this Barolo can age beautifully for the next 15 years. It is ideal with aged cheeses or a tender steak.
