Cavallotto Mixed Case

Sale price $385.34

The Cavallotto winery sprawls east to west across a specific hilled area, known as the Bricco Boschis. Its unique placement splits the vineyards in half, with each side yielding different varietals that thrive in the various soil deposits uncovered here. They are exceptional ancient vines, replanted between 1932 and 1956. Thanks to its unique microclimate and coveted terroir, this plot consistently yields Barolo of exceptional quality. Whether the wine comes from their Bricco Boschis cru, or the Vignolo, they've created a unique identity and maintained a high level of quality that has only strengthened over time.

Acquiring the Boschis property in 1928, Giacomo Cavallotto laid the foundation. His grandchildren, Olivio and Gildo began estate vinification in 1946. Guided by their father Giuseppe and Uncle Marcello, they mastered winemaking alongside traditional viticulture practices. Continuing this legacy, Olivio's children Alfio, Giuseppe, and Laura have propelled gradual growth and quality enhancements since the late 1980s. Expansions to the cellars as recent as 2008 further support the estate's commitment to excellence.

Our mixed cases are inclusive of tax and bottle deposit. Each mixed case contains 2 bottles of each:

CAVALLOTTO LANGHE GRIGN DOC 2022

100% Grignolino.  Grignolino, the grape used in Cavallotto Grign, is native to Piedmont and is characterized by its thin skins, which contribute to a light color and low tannins, making the wine typically light-bodied and vibrant. Cavallotto Grign often displays flavors of fresh red fruits like cherry and strawberry, along with herbal and spicy notes, making it a versatile wine that pairs well with a range of dishes, from light appetizers to charcuterie and even spicy foods.

CAVALLOTTO BARBERA D'ALBA SUPERIORE DOC VIGNA CUCULO 2021

100% Barbera. Excellent structure with typical flavours of Barbera grown in the Barolo zone: red fruits, red flowers, open and intense. Barbera d’Alba parcel is located in “Vigna Cuculo,” inside Bricco Boschis (Barbera 100%). The vineyard is located on the hillside inside a protected bowl with southwest/west exposure.

"The Cavallotto 2021 Barbera d'Alba Superiore Vigna Cuculo has something a little exotic like toasted cumin seed or sweet cinnamon stick that pops from the bouquet. The wine's core of fruit shows dark cherries or crème de cassis, and these come through especially well on the palate. This wine is a tight little package that shows elegance, and it delivers on all fronts: concentration, intensity and balance." 93 points. - Wine Advocate

CAVALLOTTO LANGHE DOC FREISA 2021

100% Freisa. Well-structured and complex with intense bouquet of red fruits, particularly cherries and strawberries. Also aromas of flowers and spices. Excellent ageing potential up to 8 years.
