Tasting Notes: There is an enticing hint of vanilla pod on the nose, a very subtle reminder that this wine spent 9 months in French oak. There's nothing heavy handed about it though – the fruit is predominantly apricot and peach, with a splash of woodspice and terrific freshness.

Ageing/Vinification: 4 hours maceration, controlled low temperature fermentation in barrel with selected yeasts. 10 months ageing in 225L neutral barrel on the lees. 4,000 bottles made.

Vineyard: Pianta comes from a small 2.5h plot lying on the side of a steep terraced crater on the south side of Mount Etna on volcanic and sandy soil.
